"500 Days of Summer" left a lasting impression on many male viewers, who could relate to the character of Summer as a cold-hearted woman in a romantic relationship. In contrast, "Love Fiction" is a romantic comedy that revolves around a man's perspective on love. An anonymous novelist, Ju-wol (Ha Jeong-woo),falls in love at first sight with Hee-jin (Kong Hyo-jin),who works at a film import company, when they meet at a book fair. After days of dating, they become a couple. However, unlike Hee-jin, who is looking for a realistic relationship, Ju-wol is dissatisfied with everything she does, leading to their separation.

The film is solely seen from Ju-wol's perspective, depicting the process of how a couple's relationship begins and ends. It is constructed by incorporating Ju-wol's complex inner thoughts, which are conveyed through his imaginary conversations with a character named M.

This is Jeon Gye-soo's third film, following the musical "The Ghost Theater" and the realistic love story in the style of director Hong Sang-soo's "Lost and Found - 2010." With Ha Jeong-woo from "The Yellow Sea" and "The Chaser," along with Kong Hyo-jin, who gained fame from her romantic television drama roles, this film is sure to bring excitement to the audience.
